I bring a unique perspective: a mastery of wise design with focus on strong year-round esthetic interest combined with a deep respect for natural beauty.

For many years I provided estate and garden management in Northern Colorado, Santa Fe NM and Northern California.

During Cornerstone Sonoma's most celebrated years, I had the opportunity to serve as Assistant Manager, bringing my lifelong horticultural experience and creativity to its remarkable gardens.

A little about me

Some of my earliest memories are of growing in my parents' nursery, where I was helping take care of plants by the age of five. Working alongside my father in the nursery taught me lessons that have stayed with me throughout my career. Horticulture ran deep on both sides of my parent's families. It feels natural to me to be in and around gardens (my happy place). I love the challenge and surprising beauty a garden can bring throughout the year.

I have a deep understanding of the small nuances that all combine to bring forth a magnificent garden and have often described it like a symphony, where different plants become the featured performers throughout the season while others provide harmony, structure, and balance. It's the sum of all the parts that create a truly magical garden and it's often the little things that level up the entire garden experience.

Great gardens are about far more than flowers or color alone. They are about texture, scale, movement, seasonal progression, contrast, and depth. They require an understanding of how plants mature, how they interact with one another, and how they create an emotional experience. A garden is a deeply personal space, reflecting the property owner's own unique style and vision.

One of my favorite parts of this work is getting to know a property with its owner. Every landscape has its own personality that reflects the client and how they want to experience it. I enjoy the process of understanding what is important to them and share in the enthusiasm in seeing things progress. A garden is your sanctuary.

My Philosophy

Observe before changing - Often the feel changes with better understanding of the property, location, client's style or even the time of day.

Respect the architecture - It's important that the garden reflects the architecture of the home and is complementary to it.

Let gardens mature naturally - At the end of the day nature really shows us what grows where and how. It's amazing how a garden changes from year to year.

Quality over quantity - Space is just as important as the garden itself. Open views, art, depth all play into the garden. Having a specialty anchor plant elevates the whole garden

Relationships over projects - This applies to the clients and gardens alike. As I get to know you, I will reflect you in how I see your gardens. I really enjoy working closely with my clients creating these amazing spaces.
